RULES and REGULATIONS for the 2010-2011 Girls division

Varsity division:

  • 8 minute quarters – 4 total
  • 5 timeouts – (3) full and (2) 30second
  • Prayer and pledge of allegiance prior to all games
  • JV/varsity players – can play a max of 5 quarters per night
  • Full court pressing is allowed throughout the game
  • A player is only eligible to play if roster and religious education paperwork has been submitted to the league
    -all forms must be signed by principal of school or pastor of parish plus the league coordinator
    (If it is found out during the course of the season that a player has participated in a game without the proper paperwork
    It will result in a forfeit for that team)
  • Ref fees is $42 per ref per game
  • The referee has control over any situation – if he or she decides to remove a spectator and/or a player from the gym – both teams must follow ruling
  •  Each home team must have an adult in charge at the gym – preferably not the head coach
  • Mercy rule – no press after a team in up by more than 20 points – no three point shooting – no fast breaks – stop putting the score up has to be agreed by both teams
    (If a team violates this rule – they can be reported to the league coordinators – if this is ignored – forfeit may occur)
  • Top four teams make the (A) playoffs – higher seeds host the preliminary playoff games
  • The second four teams in the division will play for the (B) playoffs – again higher seeds host the preliminary games
  • If necessary a one game play in will occur or a flip of the coin
  • League games will end by Feb 25th-Feb 26th
  • Make up games should be made up as soon as possible-any games not made up will be considered a double forfeit unless there are uncontrolled circumstances
  • First round playoffs should take place the week of Feb 27th thru March 3rd
  • Championship game will be played on March 5th
  • Playoffs and championship games will be officiated by the SJBO organization
  • Championship games will be played at a site to be determined – most likely Gloucester Catholic High School
  • All scores for the girls’ varsity division need to be submitted to Robert Iacovone by the home team immediately after the game

  • It is the team’s responsibility to contact the refs in case of a change in time – date or location
  • Any problems during the season should first be sent to the league coordinator – if he or she cannot answer the complaint it then will be sent to the Executive Board for further ruling

JV division

  • 7 minute quarters – 4 per game
  • 5 total timeouts – (3) full and (2) 30 second
  • NO press until final two minutes of each half
  • Ref fees is $33/per ref per game
  • Playoff format – top four teams – will play for the “A” championship
  •  The next four teams will play for the “B” championship
  • Higher seeds will have home court advantage during the first round games
  • Championship game will be played on Sunday – March 6th at a site to be determined most likely Gloucester Catholic High School
  • All other rules and regs from the varsity division apply
