trackThis year the Our Lady of Hope Regional School will participate in its second season of cross country.

Cross country is different than track and field or road running.  Cross country runners cover grass and hilly terrain race courses, through woods and fields, running distances which vary between 1.5 miles and 1.7 miles depending upon the course.

Practices are generally held one or two times per week, usually at a local park where our races are held.  We run at the Donio Park in Winslow Township, at the Maria Greenwald Park in Haddonfield, and Gloucester County Community College.

Our cross country team competes against other public and catholic schools located throughout Gloucester and Camden Counties.  Races are usually held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  The season begins in mid-September and ends with the league championship in the first week in November.  In addition to the league schedule, we also participate in special event races like the Cherokee Challenge, the South Jersey Shootout, and the South Jersey Open which are sponsored and held by local high schools.  The season ends with the league championship with awards to top placing finishers in the boys and girls races respectively.

While cross country is available to children of every grade, in most cases the children are in 3rd grade or older.

The Head Cross Country Coach is Vince Cieslik
